Writer and Cafe

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single writer in possession of a good book idea, must be in want of a cafe in which to write it. That's how it has been with writers for the past century. I don't make the rules, I just follow them.

So, after writing my last book in Camp Site with their proletariat coffee (and I am as prole as they come) and worse service, here five years later I am spending the bulk of my time in the decidedly non-prole Oasis Cafe. It's as if someone decided that since I was going to write Fictions, then I might as well have a Wi-Fi enabled high-end coffee shop to work from. Of course I can't actually afford the amount of time I spend there but, for lack of better options, I've been dubbed sort of the official writer in residence. I guess the owners are gambling on the fact that when Fictions wins me some outrageously famous award, all the interviews are going to say that I wrote the book there. Or not.

I occasionally revisit Camp Site to keep myself grounded (or instant as the case happens to be) and the truth is I flow there, particularly with the traditional pen and paper type writing. But then it's back to Oasis for the typing and the blogging and the editing and the layout.
