Janus Creative Writing Clinic

I will be hosting the Janus Creative Clinic beginning at the end of this month. The Clinic is aimed at providing participants with a strong foundation in the creative writing disciplines of Short Fiction, Poetry, Drama and Feature Journalism. Participants will be divided into two groups (afternoon and evening during the week) for the literary classes - short fiction, poetry and drama - while the feature journalism classes will be held on Saturdays.

Sessions for the literary disciplines are two hours each, two sessions per week, for a total of 16 hours; sessions for the feature journalism course will be three hours each, weekly, for a total of 12 hours. Basic info can be found below, and I can be contacted at:

Fee: $12,000 each for Drama, Poetry and Short Fiction
$10,000 for Feature Writing

who will be teaching ... You?
If so are you certified to do so? Which institution/s did u attend? How many years do you have in profession?

Is this money making thing happening as a result of that workshop you did for Cd. Valere? O so now you think that u can teach people?

I'd rather do literature classes at an institution than to waste my money and let a novice teach me.

Ruel Johnson is a winner of the Guyana Prize for Literature for Best First Book of Fiction (2002; Ariadne & Other Stories), and the GT&T CARIFESTA X Publication Award (2008; Fictions, Volume One) - his collection of poetry, The Enormous Night, was also shortlisted for the 2002 Guyana Prize awards. He was script writer for the mini-series, Tides of Life, produced by Women Against Violence Everywhere (WAVE) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and a scriptwriter for Link Show 2009.
Johnson is also a former feature/editorial writer with the Guyana Chronicle, and former sports/business/features editor for the BVI Standpoint. He has had work published in Caribbean Beat, Trinidad Express, Jamaica Observer, Buenos Aires Herald and Small Axe Literary Journal; his article “Fear of Stones” (Guyana Chronicle, 2006) won the national awards for Best Feature and Best HIV/AIDS Story for the PAHO Caribbean Media Awards for Excellence in Health Journalism.
He is currently a freelance editorial consultant, with attachment as editorial consultant to the UWI-CARICOM Project. He is also consultant editor to Apsara magazine, functioned as consultant editor to Guyana Bar Association's Law Review 2008, and has served as Playwriting Facilitator/Supervisor for the 2007 GEMS Theatre Workshop, as well as Coordinator/Facilitator of the 2009 Signifyin Guyana Short Fiction Workshop. Johnson is an alumni of the inaugural Cropper Foundation Writers' Workshop held in Trinidad in 2000.
